DEFINITION:
The Seasonal Maintenance works under the direction of the department’s Supervisor and supports regular District employees by assisting with routine maintenance of the offices, grounds, vehicles, and any other tasks assigned.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
JOB LOCATION AND EQUIPMENT UTILIZED:
Work is regularly performed at various District facilities. The incumbent will occasionally be exposed to extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time, confined spaces, moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, and various tools and equipment. Work also involves exposure to live sewer systems, human waste, gases, fumes, loud noises, chemicals and pesticides.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Performs general maintenance of plant grounds including mowing, weeding, pressure washing, painting, janitorial, scrubbing, basic carpentry and mechanical repairs, and other duties as required.
- Operate small power tools required to complete the maintenance of sewer systems.
- Operate weed eater and mower to perform grounds maintenance on utility properties.
- Wash, clean and fuel District vehicles and equipment.
- Work in crew environments and settings.
- Maintain a safe work environment including utilizing appropriate safety devices and equipment.
- Other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Function, usage, and operating characteristics of a variety of power tools and hand tools used in maintenance and repair
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
- Pertinent Federal, State and local codes, laws and regulations
ABILITY TO:
- Operate outdoor equipment such as lawnmower, blowers, weed eaters, manual landscaping tools to include hand saw, pruners, rakes, and shovels to be used safely and effectively.
- Work in a team environment.
- Work under direct supervision and independently as assigned.
- Ability to be self-motivated and possess a strong work ethic.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with a full scope of knowledge of English, mathematics, legal forms and terms, proper spelling and grammar.
- Reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, sitting, walking, grasping, dexterity, hearing, seeing, talking, and repetitive motions may be required. Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds may be required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High School diploma or GED
- A valid Washington State driver’s license required
- Steel toe boots required
