Lakehaven Water and Sewer District has an immediate opening for one Part-time Accounting Technician in our Administration Department. This position will be scheduled to work 24 hours per week with prorated benefits.

A Lakehaven Accounting Technician is responsible for providing accounting and clerical activities to support the accounts payable process. This position will provide additional support to help with accurate and timely payment processing for the District. Tasks include reviewing and maintaining purchase orders and related records in compliance with accepted policies and procedures. The Accounting Technician will provide excellent internal and external customer service while performing accounts payable tasks, in a deadline-driven, team-oriented environment.
As a Lakehaven Accounting Technician, you will be part of a team that has been recognized by the National Association of Clean Water Agencies for its environmental stewardship and has been a long-standing member of the American Water Works Association. Lakehaven has a service area population of over 135,000 people living across a 35 square mile area in south King County, makings us one of the largest special-purpose water and sewer districts in the state. Our water system includes 450 miles of water mains, 25 active wells and 12 storage tanks, which allows us to meet a current annual average water demand of 10 million gallons per day (MGD) from the community. Lakehaven also has two wastewater treatment plants, 33 sewer lift stations, and 350 miles of sewer mains capable of collecting and treating up to 15.6 MGD. Our employees work hard to produce and treat high quality drinking water and to ensure treated wastewater adheres to EPA standards, which safeguards the local ecological system of Puget Sound.
As a member of the Administration department, it is necessary that the ideal candidate be able to work independently as well as collaborate and work effectively with a team. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential.

Requirements |
The successful candidate should have the following:
- A high school diploma or equivalent, some college coursework in bookkeeping or accounting is desired.
- Previous clerical work experience, including knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.
- Completion of classes in bookkeeping/accounting plus one year experience in progressively responsible bookkeeping/accounting, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
- Knowledge of governmental bookkeeping/accounting procedures, practices and terminology is desired.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Access, and Word.
- Ability to make arithmetic computations rapidly and accurately.
- Ability to give substantial attention to detail and repetitive transactions.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative work relationships with other departments and outside agencies.
- Employee must be bondable to be eligible for any future promotion.

This position is anticipated to work onsite for 24 hours per week, between Monday and Friday business hours. There is some schedule flexibility within this timeframe, to be discussed with supervisor upon hire.
