IT Operations Manager

JOB OPPORTUNITY – IT Manager - Operations

 
Are you an experienced IT professional with a passion for public service and technology leadership? The Alderwood Water & Wastewater District (AWWD) is seeking an IT Operations Manager to lead and enhance the District’s technology infrastructure. This position is responsible for managing and maintaining core technology staff, systems, and vendors, ensuring security, reliability, and efficiency across networks, servers, cloud environments, cybersecurity, and end-user support.
 
About the Role:
 
As the IT Operations Manager, you will work closely with the Information Technology Manager to strengthen AWWD’s IT infrastructure and enhance operational efficiency. Key focus areas include:
 
  • Technology Infrastructure Management – Oversee the District’s IT operations, ensuring the security, performance, and reliability of networks, servers, cloud environments, cybersecurity frameworks, and technical support services.
  • Leadership & Team Development – Lead, mentor, and develop IT staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team that embraces continuous learning and innovation.
  • Cybersecurity & Risk Management – Implement and uphold industry best practices to enhance system security, protect data integrity, and mitigate cybersecurity threats.
  • Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery – Establish and maintain robust disaster recovery plans, redundancy measures, and incident response protocols to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • IT Procurement & Vendor Management – Oversee IT budgets, procurement, vendor contracts, and service agreements to ensure cost-effective and high-quality technology solutions.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Governance – Ensure adherence to industry regulations, cybersecurity standards, and internal policies, maintaining compliance across all IT operations.
  • Project Management & System Enhancements – Provide strategic leadership in IT project management, system upgrades, and infrastructure improvements to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
 
Focus on strategic IT planning and business continuity is essential to our IT Operations Manager. This position is responsible for developing and executing long-term IT strategies that align with AWWD’s mission and growth objectives, ensuring that technology solutions effectively support operational needs and future expansion. This position will work in close collaboration with management, IT support staff, and operations staff to enhance the function, quality, and value of AWWD’s infrastructure
 
The ideal candidate will bring expertise in IT infrastructure management, network administration, cybersecurity, and enterprise applications. They will be a collaborative leader, adept at managing personnel, prioritizing IT initiatives, and implementing industry best practices to support the District’s strategic goals. Experience in public sector IT, disaster recovery planning, and process optimization is highly desirable.

Annual Salary:
 
$130,166.40 - $174,449.60
 
Qualifications:
 
  • Any combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities that provides the candidate with the capabilities to successfully perform the role will be considered
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of education requirements.
  • Five years of progressively responsible IT operations experience, including two years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of enterprise IT systems, networking, cybersecurity, and cloud services.
  • Experience managing IT projects, budgets, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Certifications in cybersecurity, cloud computing, or IT service management are a plus.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license.
