Salary: OIT (operator in training) $32.29-$35.17/hr. / Group I $37.50-$40.58/hr. (Entry salary may be negotiable with higher level of certification and experience)

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently & in a team environment
  • Physical ability to perform job duties, including heavy lifting while crouching, bending, laying & walking including overhead lifting, under adverse conditions
  • Able to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment and schedule
  • Capacity to make good decisions under stress
  • Obtain WWTP Group 1 Certification within 18 months of employment
Desirable Experience & Qualifications
  • Class B or higher CDL with tanker and air brake endorsement
  • Fabrication, mechanical, electrical, construction, earth works, equipment operation experience or similar
  • Wastewater Treatment or Collection system experience.
  • Experience related to equipment operation such as centrifuges, jetting, vactor, sewer cameras, lift stations or pump repair  
  • Laboratory experience, with attention to detail and good mathematical skills.
Wastewater Operator & Collection System Responsibilities
  • Conducting laboratory tests and analyzing results to monitor efficiency
  • Inspecting, cleaning, maintaining District equipment and facilities
  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment abnormalities.
  • Monitoring, recording and reporting process data and performance
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory, safety and environmental guidelines
  • Inspecting and assessing assets such as pipeline, manhole, lateral and lift station condition.
  • Document tasks performed as required using asset management program.
  • Marking location of District infrastructure for 811 Utility Locate requests
On-call Responsibilities
  • Provide response to after hour emergencies, and working weekends on a rotational basis of about once every 5-6 weeks upon qualification.
