Associate Engineer
Associate Engineer
$81,474 - $119,766 Annual Salary, DOQ

This position is responsible for providing engineering
assistance in the areas of research, analysis, review, field
work, documentation, and interactions with customers and
public agencies. As an engineer-in-training, you must be
enthusiastic about learning, and willing to complete related
training as required. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Assist in the development and review of engineering
plans, specifications, cost estimates, and final contract bid
documents for capital improvement projects.
• Perform preliminary project engineering, including written
project analysis, preliminary drawings and specifications,
estimates of probable costs, and legal/boundary research.
• Research and compile records and field data.
• Perform field inspections, including land development,
District capital projects, and side sewer inspections.
• Obtain appropriate project permits and approvals.
• Develop engineering and planning reports, maps, and
other written documents for implementing utility service.
• Assists in responding to inquiries from the general public
regarding water and sewer availability and Developer
Extension Agreements.
• Assist with special projects and other duties as required.

Requirements Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or any
equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Washington State Engineering-in-Training Certificate, or
the ability to earn one within six months of hire.
• Working knowledge of utility engineering theories,
principles, practices, and construction considerations for
the planning and development of water and sewer systems.
• The ability to write, communicate, and interface effectively
and clearly with customers and government agencies.
• Valid Washington state driver’s license, with a driving
record acceptable to the District.
