Utility Worker
JOB SUMMARY: This is an entry level position, an experienced candidate’s starting salary may reflect their skill set/certification status. Employee will learn and perform a wide variety of tasks in a wastewater collection system.
EXAMPLES OF JOB DUTIES: The operation of equipment such as: Vactor and CCTV trucks, clean lift stations, and use a variety of hand and power tools supplied by the District. Ability to develop a basic understanding of plumbing, electrical repairs, and the sewage collection system. Ability to communicate courteously and accurately with the public.

Requirements |
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed outdoors in varying working and weather conditions. Exposure to physical hazards from mechanical and electrical equipment, traffic and other dangers. Physical effort is required to perform heavy manual labor in underground and confined spaces. Lifting up to 100 pounds is required. Most tasks done with a partner or small crew, successful candidate will have strong teamwork skills, as well as a willingness to engage in proactive communication and receive constructive criticisms from teammates.
Minimum qualifications, education, licensing & other requirements:
- Ability to work flexible hours (work overtime as needed) and accept 24 hour “on-call” status. Ability to respond to emergency work (onsite) within one hour.
- Ability to meet physical requirements of the position.
- Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification, Washington State traffic/flagger control certification and confined space entry training within 6 months.
- Obtain a CDL, required within one year. (District provides paid training)
- Valid Washington State driver’s license. High school diploma or GED. Read, write, and speak fluent English. Adhere to District policies and procedures. Provide excellent customer service skills. Ability to work harmoniously with others. Flexibility in accepting work assignments.
