The Opportunity: Lead Utility Worker
The
Alderwood Water & Wastewater District (AWWD) is accepting applications for
Lead Utility Worker.
The District is accepting applications from those who are qualified and interested in a Lead Utility Worker position within the Maintenance and Operations Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for the on-site maintenance and operation of the District’s water distribution system, wastewater collection system, plants and reservoirs, and providing work assignments and instruction to employees. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the safety of their work crews as well as maintaining acceptable on-site work performance standards. This position reports directly to a Field Operations Manager.
Lead Utility Workers maintain and operate the District’s water distribution system, sewage collection system, plants, and reservoirs. Essential duties include installing, servicing, and repairing water and sewer facilities; repairing water and sewer line leaks; flushing water systems; repairing curbs and sidewalks; installing valves and setting meters; and responding professionally and courteously to customer inquiries.
The successful candidate must have four years of related experience, with at least three years of water/wastewater experience and must possess a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED). They must also possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver’s License with a Commercial Driver’s License Class A with tanker and air brake endorsement, an industrial first aid/CPR card, flagger card, fork lift certification, confined space entry, shoring and trenching, Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead, a Water Distribution Manager II certification or ability to obtain within one year, a Wastewater Collections II certification or ability to obtain within one year and a Cross Connection Specialist certification or ability to obtain within one year.
This position is represented by WCCCE, Local No. 1811A, AFSCME, AFL-CIO. A valid Washington State Driver’s license and acceptable driving record is required for all classification levels. The pay range for this position is
$37.10 - $49.74 per hour, with a starting pay range of
$37.10 - $42.97 dependent upon experience and qualifications.
