Utility Maintenance Worker Level 1 or 2
Annual Salary Ranges:
Level 1: $63,916 to $94,232; DOE
Level 2: $75,901 to $111,901; DOE
This position entails regular and recurring installation, repair, and maintenance work in the District’s water and sewer systems. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Installs, services, and repairs all District water and sewer facilities, system components, vehicles, and equipment, including operation of vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Taps water and sewer mains for connections; repairs street curbs, streets, and sidewalks impacted by operations.
- Locates, inspects, and performs necessary repairs on new and existing water and sewer services and components.
- Ensures on-site safety compliance during field operations.
- Processes work orders; assists in final project inspections.
- Reads water meters; assists staff in meter re-reads; checks for indications of leaks and advises customers accordingly.
- Works with other District staff to perform service disconnection, water meter lock outs, and reconnections.
- Responds to emergency call outs and after-hours support.

| Requirements |
Qualifications:
- Required: Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job.
- Required: Ability to obtain a Water Distribution Manager 1 or 2 within one year of appointment.
- Preferred: Between one year (for Level 1) and five years (for Level 2) of experience in the maintenance, repair, and operation of a public utility, or water and sewer district.
- Required: High School Diploma or GED.
- Required: Valid Washington State Driver’s License; acceptable driving record; and for Level 2, a Commercial Driver’s License (Class “A” with Airbrake and Tanker Endorsement).
- Required: Certified Competent Person; Industrial First Aid Card; CPR/Blood Borne Pathogens; Certified Work Zone Traffic Control (Flagging Card); Forklift Certified (within 12 months for Level 1).
